becoming: The Never-Ending Story of Us

When I first started writing posts for becoming, I thought maybe—just maybe—it would help me close a chapter. A way to make peace with the broken pieces. A way to say, “Look, I made it. I’m finished.”

But life has a way of humbling you in the most extraordinary ways. The more I wrote, the more I lived, the more I realized a deeper truth that cracked me wide open:

becoming is not about endings.
It is not about arriving.
It is not about putting a bow on survival and calling it healed.

becoming is a living, breathing, never-ending story.
And that is exactly what makes it so powerful.

becoming was born out of broken parts stitched together by bold hope. It is not some pristine monument to perfection. It is a tapestry woven from grief and grit, trauma and tenderness, shame and resilience. It carries the fingerprints of every person who has been dismissed, diminished, or discarded. It was written for the weirdos who never fit into anyone’s neat little boxes. For the warriors who fought battles no one else could see. For the wounded who dared to survive what tried to destroy them. For the wise ones who know that wisdom does not come from winning—it comes from surviving, from losing, from choosing to rise again when there is no applause.

If you have ever been told you were too much, too sensitive, too broken, too complicatedbecoming is for you.
If you have ever been told you were not enough, not smart enough, not strong enough, not worthy enoughbecoming is yours, too.

This series is not just a collection of reflections. It is a declaration:
You are allowed to grow without a destination.
You are allowed to heal without a timeline.
You are allowed to exist in the messy, sacred in-between—and still be whole.

We live in a world obsessed with outcomes. Degrees. Titles. Promotions. Before-and-after photos. We worship the illusion of “arrival,” as if worth is something you earn only when the world claps loudly enough. But life is not a straight line from broken to perfect. Healing is not a checklist. Growth is not a race you win.

becoming spits in the face of that lie.
becoming stands up and says: You are already enough, even as you are still becoming.

That is why the name becoming is always lowercase.
It is intentional. It is a choice.
Because the work of becoming is never done. It is fluid, imperfect, alive. It refuses to sit still long enough to be pressed into something formal or finite. It bends. It breathes. It breaks and rebuilds.
Lowercase letters remind us: this story is still being written.

And if becoming needed a mascot, it could never be something ordinary. It needed a symbol of unapologetic defiance, of impossible survival, of delightfully weird wonder. That is why the platypus became the face of becoming.

The platypus does not fit the mold.
It is soft but fierce.
It is quiet but undeniable.
It is an animal that refuses to be classified neatly by science. In doing so, it reminds us: You do not have to fit anyone’s box to belong here.
You already do.

Just like the platypus, becoming is about embracing every contradiction inside of us. We realize that wholeness was never about tidying up the chaos. It was about honoring it.

As this series unfolds, we are going to dive into the stories most people are too afraid to tell.
The ugly parts.
The glorious parts.
The parts still tangled in grief and rage.
The parts that refuse to stay silent.

We will talk about surviving stigma, reclaiming identity, learning to love bodies and minds that society labels “broken.” We will dive into what it means to lose everything and somehow still find yourself. We will challenge the myths we were taught about success, about love, about worth. We will view pain not as a weakness to hide. Instead, it is a language of wisdom. We must learn to speak it with reverence.

becoming is not just a series. It is a movement.
It is a gathering place for every soul who has ever thought, “Maybe I am too messy to be loved.”
It is a reminder that you are not alone.
It is proof that unfinished stories are still beautiful.

I am chasing a TEDx stage because I believe this with every fiber of my being:
The world needs to hear that becoming is not something we outgrow. It is something we lean into.
The world needs to know that there is no shame in the struggle.
The world needs to be reminded that we are not failures because we are still becoming—we are masterpieces in motion.

This talk is not about standing up polished and perfect.
It is about standing up real.
It is about standing up broken and brave.
It is about standing up so that someone else might realize they can too.

The becoming series will not give you all the answers.
It will not wrap up your pain with a pretty bow.
It will not pretend there is a map for the wild landscape of your healing.

What it will do is walk with you through the fire.
It will tell you that you are not wrong for being exactly as you are.
It will whisper to you, in your darkest nights and brightest mornings:

You are becoming. And that is enough.

As we move through the weeks and months ahead, I invite you to come with an open heart.
Come raw. Come curious. Come unfinished.

Come exactly as you are.

Because the never-ending story of becoming is not about finding a way to fit into someone else’s mold.
It is about finally, fiercely, fully being yourself.

And my friend—
That story?
It is just getting started.
