In 1 hour, I found 50 of my articles that ranked on the first page of Google.
30 of them were in the top 5 search results for their keywords.
Want to know how I do it?
- Always check the keywords of existing top-ranking pages for the topic. (you want to cover many of the same keywords as them)
- Keywords in every section headline
- Focus keyword in the first paragraph, even better if it’s the first sentence.
- Use semantic keywords (use every opportunity for an industry keyword. Ex. instead of “agencies” use “content marketing agencies”)
- Always make sure to add alt tags to photos
- Be highly relevant
Want to know why none of this really matters?
Because none of those articles had full intent behind them. They’re bringing in the most traffic for them, but they aren’t converting.
(Sadly, I didn’t have control over the topics- but it points to why I love working directly with clients now as opposed to through agencies- though I stuck with a couple great ones)
I don’t care about a lot of traffic. I care about the RIGHT traffic.
I care about conversions.
I care about sales enablement.
I care about branding through content.
You can’t do that if you’re only focusing on keywords, search, and traffic
