The Platypus Paradox

With bill of leather

webbed feet and fur

A creature of contradictions that’s for sure.

Lays eggs like birds,

yet nurses young,

Electric senses,

to prey it clung.

Venom in spurs

a duck-billed face

Elusive creature

leaving no trace.

In rivers deep

it hunts and hides

A mammal marvel

where wonder resides.

From ancient times

it walks the Earth

A living bridge

of untold worth.

So let us cherish this paradox rare,

the platypus, beyond compare.
