When Is Enough Enough?

How utterly sad. Beyond sad. Three individuals of family of four vacationing in an Iowa State Park were gunned down in their tent. Three lives, one a mere six years old, extinguished in the blink of an eye, née stolen by the intentional pull of a trigger.

Yet people still find that the Second Amendment needs protecting?? Some even want laws put in place to strengthen it!!

What about the children and teachers in school classrooms?

What about the folks at the market buying food for their family??

What about people in their church, temple, or synagogue parking lots???

What about vacationing families in state parks in rural Iowa????

Gun qwith blood

When do these people, these once living breathing human beings with lives before them to live, families to care for, children to raise, futures to fulfill, get protected?

Where are the laws to protect our kids in their classrooms – where they trust us to ensure their safety and well-being as they learn?!?!?

When does our Nation pull off the blinders and see that a human life, thousands of human lives a year, bear so much more value than a gun in their pocket, backpack, or night stand?

How manymore lives will be lost to guns in the USA

When do we, as a Nation, scream to our legislators that the Second Amendment is clear in its protection of guns and who gets them – A well regulated MILITIA, being necessary to the SECURITY OF A FREE STATE. . .does NOT in any way support nor assert the delusion now held to be fact, that every person in our Nation gets to hold in his or her hand a device that, with a modicum of pressure on a trigger wipes away the laughter of a family vacation, the future of too many individuals to count, the very life another human being.

I dare say with resolute certainty that not one single individual involved in the penning of our Constitution, were they alive today, would hold that today’s gun laws are even tangentially close to what they envisioned when they opted to arm and protect the firearms of a WELL REGULATED MILITIA.

Is the individual with no criminal history from Nebraska that killed six year old Lula Schmidt a member of a militia of any type? Are the shooters who, in the first seven months of 2022 cut short the lives of over 24,000 Americans (nearly 1,000 of them under the age of 18), in some militia whose existence I am not privy to? If they are, I assert it is far far from well regulated and still fails to pass muster of the clear language of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America!

“Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” is a well-known phrase in the United States Declaration of Independence. The phrase gives three examples of the unalienable rights which the Declaration says have been given to all humans by their Creator, and which governments are created to protect.

Shootings like the one in the Maquoketa Caves State Park campground on Friday, July 22 deprive not only the dead of these unalienable rights, but also the family members left among the living who struggle to continue living life with no understanding of why. . .

If you are able to donate to help this young boy who was spared death, please consider doing so. He will certainly need help moving forward with his life and hopefully his pursuit of happiness!!
